As I said before the design has changed due to the orbital model I’m basing the application on and my lack of AS3.0 knowledge. It seems to be a complete shift from AS2.0 and I’m struggling with the inner workings.
Here is what is up so far.
At the moment the middle image is stock but will be changed to the logo once developed.

Well, i thought there would be more coverage of the history of food but records are shaky and people seem not to be interested. Unfortunately this has left me with the rather unreliable source of wikipedia. This data can be found here.
This simply shows when certain foodstuffs were introduced into Britain.
Well thats from Back to the Future and nothing to do with this, well it kind of is. The now present problem is the time machine element of my ark of taste. This is not really going to be possible in the original sense of moving back through the screen but instead in a different way. Furthermore the current ark of taste includes no reference dates for when the food was lost.
As an added bonus feature to the 3d orbital menu i will use, i will create a timeline reaching back through the screen which will allow us to see when the food was forgotten. More on this idea will be added as i think of it and if its even possible!
Sounds like something from Indiana Jones unfortunately it isn’t. Anyhow the ark of taste is
“The Ark of Taste aims to rediscover, catalog, describe and publicize forgotten flavors. It is a metaphorical recipient of excellent gastronomic products that are threatened by industrial standardization, hygiene laws, the regulations of large-scale distribution and environmental damage.”
Taken from the slowfood website. The current online front end (http://www.slowfoodfoundation.com/eng/arca/dettaglio.lasso?cod=746&prs=0)of this ark of taste is not exactly that interesting or entertaining however I aim to change this by utilizing flash to emphasize the flavors, colours and attributes of the food. Hopefully I can build on this idea to create an ark of taste that will engage the user in such a way that they themselves take longer to savour the flavour.
